Step 3: Selection criteria

Trade fairs are marketplaces. With their supply and demand, they reflect the market economy of the country or region. The more diverse the markets, the more differentiated the trade fairs on offer.

The most important selection criteria are

  • Can your company achieve its specific participation goals according to the type and focus of the trade fair?
  • Does your offer correspond to the themes and nomenclature of the trade fair, in which the permitted products and product groups are defined?
  • Does the visitor structure of the trade fair correspond to the target group of your company in terms of quality and quantity?
  • What is the importance and acceptance of the trade fair within the industry and are all market participants represented?

Another criterion is a trade congress taking place at the same time, which on the one hand offers the opportunity to hold your own specialist presentations and on the other hand motivates other relevant target groups to visit the trade fair. Sometimes the supporting programme also decides whether a trade fair is visited or not. Researching this programme should therefore be on the preparation list.
